Methyl-Chloride is a colorless and volatile liquid having a sweet odor and is employed as solvent, mainly in the production of silicones and in the production of chemical products for agriculture, methylcellulose, quaternary amines, and, among others, tetramethyl lead.
In the past, it was also used inside refrigerators, but – due to its level of toxicity – it has been replaced by new chemical compounds, for example Freon.
