Customers involved

We worked with LBC-CEPSA, a top-tier global independent operator of bulk liquid storage facilities for chemicals, petroleum, and base oils.

Problem to solve

Customer needed to transfer phenol (also called carbolic acid), that is an aromatic organic compound. Phenol and its vapors are corrosive to the eyes, the skin and respiratory tract. Inhalation with this lethal substance may cause lung edema. It may also cause harmful effects on the central nervous system and heart, resulting in dysrhythmia, seizures, and coma. It’s fundamental for the safety of the operator to avoid contact with this substance.

Technical solution

Safety is our priority: for this reason, we designed, manufactured, and tested a special double parallel arm. In this case there is not a hose for vapor recovery; we used another arm, welded with the liquid phase one and this is safer than a vapor recovery hose. The arms are heated and insulated, to reduce the heat exchange and maintain a steady temperature.

Electrical heat tracing helps to maintain the product in its liquid phase, to avoid changes to gas phase, that can result in danger and serious injuries.

Conclusions

The results are excellent, and the station works properly. We managed to satisfy all the customer needs.
